It has been a long time between wins for Stromaise, but the ultra unlucky galloper finally put means to that on Friday at Tamworth scoring impressively with most of his owners there to celebrate the win.
Bad draws, luckless rides, wet tracks and unsuitably run races have all been the undoing of Stromaise and with thanks to his very patient owners he delivered what we all knew he had.
He's not been the easiest horse to ride in a race, but Kody Nestor made the decision to go forward after been caught a little deep for the first couple of hundred metres, he dictated the race and it was all over on straightening, he kicked clear winning with ease by 1.5 lengths, a credit to Kody for the great ride.
The confidence Stromaise will take out of the run will ensure him to be ideally competitive in up coming races. He has been a real work in progress. Prior to arriving at my stable, he had a very hard preparation with his previous trainer, without figuring in the money. With gear changes and a few changes in his morning work, he quickly bounced back into form with a 2nd and a 3rd, before I turned him out. Only missing a cheque twice this preparation, It seems to suggest things will only improve for him.
